Southwestern Bell Metal Cabinet Before Makeover

Inside the cabinet I found these papers:

Four larger paper clips like this and two itty bitty teenie tiny ones to match.
This is how it looks at this moment pretty isn't it. The top pull will get you an extra shelf. Then there is one that looks like it could hold various writing supplies. The third drawer is just plain and the bottom looks plain as well but with a lock for which there is no  key.

 Right side view:
Left side and back:
Lots of rust WHATS not to love about this??????? There are great possibilities here the small little legs? or rounds will screw out so rollers could be attached if one wanted. Stay tuned for the After photo coming soon......soon as its all finished that is ...wait for it...its gonna be MARVELOUS!!

Everything Isn't Black & White

This table is a common end table from the mid-century. Made by Mersman the wood is said to be Mahogany it was pretty as it was however I'm trying to brighten my remakes up a little bit. This one I am still wondering if I should include something on the top shelf?... I've been told it has "a bit of zen to it " which was like my first thought as I wanted a black and white table.  I wanted to add some words like a scripture about light and darkness. Then as I pondered it more I thought everything isn't black and white and my creative eye certainly doesn't deal with just black and white that would be major boring.

This was the end result as it stands at this moment.  I like it. This piece makes me think of how thoughts are rapidly going through one's mind~everything isn't abundantly clear.. but its there.. and it will progress to be what its meant to be.
So on that note I guess one could say its got a bit of zen to it.

Keep Calm.....Really, chill out

This is such a beautifully perfect day outdoors I am hating staying inside. I am however having a great time inside the Salon today lots of new faces.

Little town = Big talk. The people who have come in this week have really got the word out for me. It feels good to be working more from home, { back in town } again. I am thankful for my steady clientele and also the new ones who have just made their way to my place.
Today I was shown this sign :

You know I have to make one! Its the first "Keep Calm" sign that I've liked! So cool guess that is because I can relate. If I see  "something" everyone wants I'm generally the last one wanting that "something".  I like different.

Same 'ol , Same 'ol is just
.......WELL the SAME!  << see how when you see it 3 x's same looks lame?  Same is not good.
¯\(°_o)/¯   I'm going to figure how to make this and probably with a crazy font or color...yeah .

Sign Maker

My Original sign..(sigh) it had turned yellow over the last 4 years and ...

I just wanted to update my sign.

 I sanded the old sign down so it was smooth again. Then I painted it with a can of on sale exterior white with primer paint. Added the stripes after measuring as well as I could to make it as even as I could.

 Taping off the ones I wanted to keep white and then I made use of an old paint I had of deep purple (mixed in some of the white primer paint to make it lighter)

This part was easy .... its when you add the letters etc.. you start realizing that what you put on one side you have to put on the other side. Oh Lordy ain't nobody got time for that! Since the whirlygigs are free handed they do look different but basically the same.

            {'cept that first one looks like it has a fancy squirrel face up in the crown area}

 Ok so ~  then I went to the printer and decided on a font and printed out the letters. Using the old method of scratching a pencil over the letters and tracing around them with a pen to transfer the letters to the sign.

 {freaking out 'cause I didn't like the first icon I transferred and painted onto the sign}

 I took the sign down {...thinking all the neighbors were looking at me crazy!! Or thinking that my assistant (brother) was my husband, like they all thought before.. was making me take it down.}

 I brought it back to the porch to paint the big area I had a dumb looking icon on. I painted it white. Then I selected a font really quick and really bold and easy enough to paint. Placed it where it needed to be and then sanded over the whole sign and poly coated it after that.  Done deal.

{Yes, we did set the posts and figure the chain system out ourselves...in 2009 when the salon first began.}

So all is well and I hang the sign.
               I'm proud of the big bold font.
THEN I see that it rather resembles and old Saloon font! I can live with that...I'm squirrelly after all right?!

                                      "Salon" Awe nuts!!! I thought it said Saloon!!

First customer after the big sign change said " Why did you buy a new sign?! " Right.
I miss the old one too.
Guess I should take it as a compliment...she thought I actually paid someone to do that :).

{The salon is located in Van , Texas &  it can be found on Facebook }

It all started with coffee and Pinterest in the morning....I sketched the sign on the door thinking nothing about it before long I had this :

"&" the possibilities are endless.

Made a word panel sign for the salon today!  I like it as it has a wave through it to look like hair so it fits in the salon perfectly. Very simple as my son already had made the panels I just re-purposed them.

~ Happy Father's Day ~

My Dad way back in the '60's with four of his seven children. He taught us to behave and respect others and love unconditionally. I know that he is spending this Father's Day with our Heavenly Father he is having the best Father's Day imaginable! We Thought Of You With Love Today I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new I thought about you yesterday and days before that too, I think of you in silence I often speak your name All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart. Now its the end of Father's Day but I think everyday should be Mother & Father's Day. They deserve the respect of that as much heck as we all give them when we're young *(and sometimes when we are older too)
